Stress is a silent killer. As it builds up, it batters the nervous system, causing things like chronic pain and brain fog. When we are under chronic stress, our nervous system becomes dysregulated because the body is stuck in fight-or-flight mode.

Try these three techniques to help heal your nervous system.

Cold Therapy

Ice baths and cold showers can offer a much-needed respite from stress-induced cortisol levels. Cold therapy has the potential to alleviate inflammation and enhance your sleep, cooling and soothing a nervous system that’s gone into overdrive.

EFT Tapping

Emotional Freedom Techniques help release emotional stress by relaxing the body through repetitive tapping at touchpoints corresponding to internal organs. Acupuncture and acupressure provide similar relief.

Managing stress can be as simple as following the 30-90 rule. When we experience something, there’s a 30- to 90-second window during which our brain processes the information. To restore tranquility in the brain and body, take a deep breath, exhale fully, and repeat three to five times.

Remember, we all deserve to live peaceful lives, and while we can’t control what happens around us, we have some power over what happens within our bodies. Which technique will you try first to bring calmness to your mind, body, and spirit?
