This High Priestess Of Soul Sang With Sacred Intuition
Sometimes we just be knowing something, even if we don’t know how we know it. This is our sacred intuition kicking in, and Spirit wants us to listen to it. After a deadly bombing, her sacred intuition was yelling for change. Singing from her spirit, she brought that change to the stage.

”I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” – 1 Corinthians 14:15.
As the “High Priestess of Soul,” Nina Simone mesmerized her audiences. But was she merely incredibly talented, or was she actually casting spells with her music?
The High Priestess is one of the most powerful cards in the tarot deck. She invites us to listen to our inner wisdom and sacred intuition.
When the High Priestess is pulled, the card affirms that deep down you know the truth of a situation. And Simone sang the truth.
Amid the Civil Rights movement, many of Simone’s songs reflected the political turmoil of the time. Black grief, rage, faith, resilience, pride, and frustration blended into her music's jazz notes and gospel riffs.
After the bombing of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church and the assassination of civil rights leader Medgar Evers in 1963, Simone’s inner voice was screaming for immediate systemic change.
She released “Mississippi Goddam” in 1964, calling out the anti-Black systems attempting to shush Black people’s frustrations with the snail’s pace of change.
“Mississippi Goddam” was the product of Simone’s listening to her sacred intuition.
What is our sacred intuition telling us about today’s political climate? We too can listen to our sacred intuition to effect change.
