The Spirit Resides Wherever There Is Water
Water is a divine teacher and spiritual metaphor. It reminds us to consider how life's currents guide us to the Spirit. Their river is perhaps the most sacred. Why?

Along the waterways of Delta State, Nigeria, the Urhobo people care for water as if it were a loved one. For the Urhobo people, "edjo n'ame rhe.” Spirit comes from water.
The Urhobo believe the spiritual realm exists parallel to ours. In many ways, this world mirrors ours. A reminder that we’re always connected to the divine.
The Urhobo believe a celestial river bridges the two worlds.
The currents of this cosmic river transport our spirits to earth where they are born into our bodies. The Urhobo take great care of their physical waterways and honor the water spirits, as a way of tending to the celestial river that carried them here.
In “Spirits Come From Water,” Ehima Ora shares that the Urhobo’s water rituals taught her how to incorporate water into her own spiritual work. She does this by leaving a cup of fresh water on her altar each day.
Placing clean water on our altars keeps messages from the Spirit flowing, clear, and intuitive.
Water reminds us to pay attention to the universal currents calling us forward. We will always flow toward the Spirit.
