The Beautiful Way Wonder Helps Us Experience God
Small miracles are happening around us all the time. Wonder allows us to see the divinity in every moment, and that’s why it's such a powerful spiritual tool for our people. Here's why you should start practicing wonder.
Wonder is all around us. It's in the beauty of a sunrise and the crashing of waves. It's in the ordinary laughter of your favorite person. Here's why wonder is a sacred practice to lean into.
Wonder keeps us in awe of the small miracles of life, keeping us connected to ourselves and the world's divinity. It keeps us open to the possibilities of love even when the world seems devoid of it.
It's why wonder is so essential for our people. Cole Arthur Riley wrote, "When we wonder, we loosen the cords that restrain our love. And the people most in love with a thing are prone to become its fiercest protectors." When we see wonder as a force of liberation, we open a portal to seeing God in everything, keeping close to the divine knowing and our protective power individually and collectively.
Psalm 65:5 supports this: "You leave us breathless when Your awesome works answer us by putting everything right. God of our liberation—
You are the hope of all creation, from the far corners of the earth to distant life-giving oceans."
Wonder keeps us present in an ever-busy world. It keeps us connected to God, ourselves, and each other. When we wonder, we let goodness and godliness take up space in our spirits, and that's our birthright.
