Gratitude is a part of God's will for us. "But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you." – 1 Samuel 12:24

Practicing gratitude is a powerful way to ground ourselves in the truth of the goodness that persists despite anything happening within or around us. It's also the perfect reminder of God's unwavering love.

There are many ways to express gratitude, from writing in a daily journal to creating a gratitude altar. There is no right or wrong way to practice; remember that gratitude has long been a part of who we are.

Many traditional and diasporic Black faiths prioritize giving thanks to God, nature, and ancestors, particularly through music, dancing, and storytelling. You are already capable.

According to health experts, practicing gratitude is good for our health, too. Being intentional about our gratitude can lessen anxiety, reduce stress, support heart health, and improve sleep. Your body and spirit deserve to reap the benefits that gratitude blesses us with.

Psalm 95:2 says: "Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!"

Gratitude and love go hand-in-hand; we live God's will when we stay committed to gratefulness. How will you express your gratitude today?
