Moving With Integrity Is How We Move With Spirit

Whenever we lead with integrity we are aligning ourselves with Spirit. Our integrity is our sacred intuition in action. One civil rights leader reminds us that our integrity is our bond.

“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out..” – Proverbs 10:9

Julian Bond took a deep breath. This was the second time he’d been elected to the Georgia state legislature only to be denied his seatWhite members of the House were refusing to seat Bond because of his work with SNCC and his vocal opposition to the war in Vietnam. But Bond was a man of integrity.

He didn’t back down. Instead, he ran and was elected for a third time. And again, he was denied his seat. Bond took the case to court.

But when the court determined that Georgia’s government had not violated Bond's constitutional rights, Bond was reminded just how crooked the judicial system can be. So he appealed to the Supreme Court.

Bond took his case to the Supreme Court. This time, the vote was in his favor.

The court unanimously overturned the lower court’s ruling, stating Bond should take his seat and be allowed freedom of speech. He held the seat for six terms.

Being a leader isn’t tied to a job title. It means listening to our sacred intuition, standing in our integrity, and taking actions that reflect this.

Our integrity is our bond. Moving with integrity is how we move with Spirit.
