How We Can Grow Black Children To Be Spiritually Strong Activists

Black children deserve all of the goodness in the world. But the world doesn't always deserve our people. It's never too early to equip children with liberation tools. Here's how we build the next generation of spiritually strong activists.

Proverbs 22:6: "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." The Most High wants us to be free, and we shouldn't leave children out of the conversation of how we'll get there.

It's never too early to begin teaching children about Black liberation or the role they'll play in it. When we share this knowledge with our children, we give them the compassion, love, and wisdom they need to understand themselves and their identities.

We must be honest with our children about race because helping them become racially literate improves their well-being and mental health. They deserve our guidance and the truth to provide a sense of direction and to ground themselves while navigating challenging circumstances.

Wrapping our children's spirits in God's love includes involving them in the movement toward liberation. By encouraging them to participate in activism, we're helping them build a strong sense of responsibility, care, and community

Some simple ways to do this are using books and movies as essential conversation starters, supporting or joining rallies or marches, or getting involved in community organizations.

Building a world where our people are free is only possible when we equip our children with liberation mindsets from the beginning. It's our responsibility to raise the next generation of self-affirmed and spiritually strong activists.
