The Surprising Lesson Behind Feelings of Jealousy

In the bible, Saul was jealous of David for receiving praise for a battle they’d both fought in. Saul’s wounded pride turned into jealousy, festering until it took over.  

Saul threw a spear at David, almost killing him. 

Jealousy is hostility to someone we believe has an undeserved advantage over us. 

When we experience jealousy, our heartspace is telling us that something we value is at stake. 

While pride would have us believe Saul was jealous of David because of the recognition he didn’t receive, when we look past pride, we see where Saul’s hurt stems from.

Perhaps Saul was jealous because he felt God was with David and had abandoned him, regardless of the times God had shown Saul his love before that. 

By facing our jealousy, we can ask, “What is God trying to teach me about the thing I desire?”  And “How can I focus more on the path and plans God has for me?”

Jealousy is a natural emotion, but we don’t have to allow it to lead us. Remember,  God’s love and abundance is enough for us al to flourish and thrivel.
