The First Step To Manifest Freedom Starts With This Powerful Exercise

Leaders within our community, like adrienne maree brown, Sonya Renee Taylor, Natasha Marin, Tricia Hersey, and Alexis Pauline Gumbs, believe our liberation is tied to the power of imagination.

Let’s do an exercise right now.

Close your eyes and breathe. What images and feelings come to mind when you think of a Black liberated world?

If you’re having trouble with this, you might be battling a “scarcity mindset,” the fear or perception of limited resources. This comes from a very real place.

Historically, anti-Blackness and racism ensured we had barely any financial, political, or socioeconomic resources.  A scarcity mindset incites fear and limits imagination, which is where our dreams and goals begin.

All Black inventors, artists, and activists had to imagine new ways forward for our people.

Before Harriet Tubman led hundreds to freedom, she imagined escaping to freedom in her dreams.

What spiritual work do you need to align with what you’re imagining? Think of the liberated world you’ve imagined as something you’re actively manifesting, and keep tending to it.

Be intentional in how you physically, emotionally, and spiritually create space for your imaginings to become your reality. It’s the first step to making your dreams come true.
