3 Biblical Lessons That Offer A Strategy For Achieving Black Liberation

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21. 

Lesson: By centering the Spirit, we align ourselves with God’s purpose. 

“The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.” – Matthew 23:11-12. An act of service lightens the load of someone without expecting anything in return. 

Lesson: Live a life dedicated to pouring into your community.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father Who is in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16. In an anti-Black world that wants us to shrink ourselves, dare to live out loud as your authentic self. 

Lesson: Don’t be afraid to be witnessed in your truth. How can loving our faith outwardly also help us to love our Blackness without apology?

These Matthew lessons are powerful on their own, but when put together, they provide a collective lesson towards achieving Black liberation. 

Centering God means our actions are in service to God’s mission. When we take continued action through service, we demonstrate we’re not afraid to fight for Black liberation. Black liberation IS our authentic truth.
